Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler has been slammed by fans on social media and was accused of being a Manchester United fan.
Tyler was on commentary duties along with former United man Gary Neville for the Red Devils’ clash against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.
Despite being Sky’s lead commentator and having one of the most recognisable voices in world football, some fans showed their discontent over his commentary during Sunday’s match. With some accusing him of being biased towards United.
One fan said: “Martin Tyler was absolutely fantastic in his early years of commentary. But he’s wayyyy past his best now. So Man United biased it’s a joke!”
Another tweeted: “Martin Tyler ITCHING for a United goal.”
A third fan added: “Martin Tyler is clearly a massive United fan.”
Another person commented: “I reckon Martin Tyler swaps his shirt with United players after the game the dinosaur.”
It turned out to be a good afternoon for United as they managed to get a much-needed 2-1 win in the most dramatic fashion.
Erik ten Hag’s side went ahead after 14 minutes courtesy of a goal by summer signing Christian Eriksen. In the second half, United were pegged back by Fulham after former Red Devil Dan James tapped home from close range.
However, United had the last laugh as youngster Alejandro Garnacho scored the winner two minutes into stoppage time to steal all three points.
Ten Hag was full of praise for the young Argentinian after the match, he said: “It’s a massive win and Alejandro Garnacho had a big impact. He finalised and then the spotlight is always on that and that is justified because it was a great finish.
“It’s what we expect from subs coming on but you have to do it and I’m really happy with his progress. We have an extra player in the squad.
“I’m happy for the academy that they have brought out a player – and the coaches, who have done good work.”
Premier League will now be on the back burner as all attention switches to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup.
